I would love to get this fixed as soon as possible as like i said it makes it difficult to use linux for me. I have also tried to create an nf file or something like that as per another slightly related thread, but all that ended up accomplishing was forcing the system speakers to only work when headphones were plugged in, it did not send sound to the headphones but still only played through speakers. As mentioned above I have tried to reinstall pulseaudio before which did not help and actually seemed to cause a few different problems. The sound plays perfectly fine via the system speakers and volume functions for that as normal however when I plug in my headphones, audio will not switch to headphones but rather continues to play out of the speakers. You can imagine this is quite frustrating and practically kills the whole idea of Linux for me as the ability to use headphones is extremely important to me. Any red or yellow symbols over a device If so double click on it. What does it show there I think the M14x has Sound Blaster Recon3Di audio card. Expand Sound, video and game controllers. So in general the problem I am having is that no matter what I do, I simply cannot get Linux Mint to play sound through my earphones/headphones.
